IBM I Access hangs on install on Windows 2008R2 Server

Hi

Im trying to install IBM Client Access 7.1 onto a Windows 2008R2 Citrix server. Ive installed this software on several identical servers but am having issues on 2 servers specifically.. The install works all the way through but then stops right at the end.  The dialog box says "status" but it doesnt continue.  Ive tried 3 different sources so its not a issue with the software itself.  I have to cancel the install which then does a rollback.

I already have the fix in place for the issue with "Windows Installer Coordinator" so this is not the cause of this issue.

Does anyone here know how to load and unload tapes drives out of an IBM TotalStorage 8 tape loader?



Good morning SIPICENINJAS, to make a long story short, IT director is no longer here, I just got hired to deal with the aftermath. Sorry for the simple question, but I have the service that is picking up the tapes here and I don't know how to get the backup tapes from yesterday out of the device. If you guys can help me with this will be greatly appreciated.

I need all the help I can get, however, I know I can handle it.

IBM AS/400 Printer stuck when toner low

Hi there,

I just faced an issue with the printer for IBM AS/400. We have a Canon iR-ADV C5255, every time when the toner is lower than 20% to 10%, the IBM AS/400 system will stop print. Please help.

Need to see what user logins are still enabled on AS400

We have an old AS400 system that we are really trying to get to a point where nobody is using it.  some insist they still need it and use the information on it everyday for historical information that is almost 5 years stale now.

Is there a simple command that I can use to see a listing of users that are still enabled?

Since we have a 30 day disable policy in place, I would at least know these people have accessed something in the last month and can try to then drill down what information they are looking up in the old system.

One other thing, we no longer have printing enabled so I cannot output to a printer any more.

Suggestions?

M1115 convert from RAID 1 to RAID 10

Hi fellow spiceheads.

In one of our customers servers they have the IBM ServeRAID M1115 SAS/SATA Controller.

I was wondering if there is a way to convert the data from a RAID 1 to a RAID 10 without losing any of the array/data.

IBM DS3200 - 2TB SATA - Failed

Hello all.

I've got a IBM x3650 that I just recently upgraded the drives in and updated to Server 2016.  As part of the refresh I decided to de-mothball my DS3200 and upgrade the drives as well, from the original 300GB SAS disks to 2TB SATA.  However, after connecting everything up, all the 2TB sata disks, while being recognized, are all reporting as FAILED, so I can't configure arrays, etc.

Current firmware is 06.17.31.00.  Drives are Seagate Barracudas (yes, not IBM-spec, but my understanding is that they should still work and I'd just get nag messages about it).

Has anyone run in to this and have any ideas on how to solve it?

Sourcing HDDs for IBM X3500 M4

Hi,

We are running into issues with our HDDs on our IBM system filling up, now our POS supplier supports this machine but it is at this point out of warranty, we still have support contracts with them which cover software based issues and upgrades but no longer hardware ones.

I have already spoken to them about replacing the HDDs and they have agreed to help move to the new ones as long as we source them ourselves. To that end, I have been looking around and have found

Which (as far as I can see) is perfect for what we need, I am however worried as when I spoke to them last they mentioned things like firmware of the disks and some versioning?

Why does my storwize V3700 SAN not show accurate storage space?

Greetings people,

I have had the absolute worst experience with IBM support this past week. I will start by explaining what has happened and what I need help with.

4 days ago, one of my volumes on my SAN became completely filled and went offline. Little did i know, that somehow the volumes were over provisioned, and instead of having 10 TB total, I only had 8TB. When the volume went offline, several, but not all, of my VM's went down as well. I call support at 7pm saturday night, and worked with this engineer until 2am the following morning, trying to bring the volume back online so that I could delete space. The solution at the end, was that I should add 5 extra drives to my SAN, inflate the volume, and then delete data. At which point I was expected to pay for the drives and then wouldn't need to delete data.

I wasn't about to buy more...

we cleaned via using air blower and pull out some card icluding raid contrroller card after we return it back and power on the server it shows above the message and cant press any key in the keybord even numlock

x3500 M4 SAAS Drive Torx Tamper proof screw size.

Hello everyone,

Here's the thing, one of our customers decided to invest in a x3500 M4 IBM server, one of the SAAS drives is failing and it needs replacement, upon opening the server tower I found out drives are held in place on their bay cases by a bunch of screws I have never found in any other server in my entire life.

They are apparently Torx Tamper Proof screws, the thing is, I need to specially buy a screwdriver for this particular customer just because of this.

I have contacted IBM support con several ocassions, they asked for a ridiculously amount of information, and after collecting everything they wanted they literally told me they need to generate a support ticket and that this ticket needs to be forwarded to an " Executive", I explained to them very gently at least 10 times I just need to know the measure of these screws so I...

i install windows 7 64 bit on my lenovo laptop. i download "system update" from lenovo website to install drivers and after it's finished i see on device manger under "other devices " base system device and sm bus controller not installed.

what kind of driver i need to install for these ?

IBM x3650 accidentally deleted RAID5 Virtual Drive

I've got an IBM x3650 M3 server( yes, it's ooooold) that I inherited. It's got 6 physical disks with RAID 5 using 0,1,2,3 and RAID 1 using 4,5. Well disk 3 has failed and now I'm getting 'Hard Disk 0 failed' and I can't even boot into the OS (Ubuntu). To make matters worse, I panicked and somehow deleted the RAID 5 virtual drive.

Pictured below the RAID 5 used to be the Slot 0-3 now foreign and unconfigured. The good thing is I think the drives are still in correct order, I just can't figure out how to re add the Virtual Drive RAID 5.... Is there anything I can do?


*EDIT - I found these commands to create a virtual drive but I"m not sure if it will wipe all the data from the drives -

# MegaCli64 -PDList -aALL | egrep 'Adapter|Enclosure|Slot|Inquiry'

We use an IBM IFS system with iNav for Windows. My problem is that when users try to download a file from within the IBM Navigator for i this is how it is supposed to work

Select Basic operations from your IBM Navigator for i window. Select Printer output. Select printer output files that you want to export. From the Actions menu, select Export as ASCII The Confirm Export panel will be shown. Click OK, then specify whether you want to open or save the file Then click Save.
Note: If you have chosen more than one printer output to be exported, the individual export files will be included in a zip file. To access the exported files, either open the zip file with Windows Explorer or extract the files to another location.

I can get to the Confirm Export but when I press "ok" the file never downloads.

IBM Chassis Firmware updates

Hi All! I am looking at updating firmware on following hardware:

* IBM Flex Chassis (with dual Management Modules)

* Chassis Ethernet Switch

* Chassis SAN Scalable Switch (Fiber)

* 8 x Lenovo Flex System x240 M5 Compute Node
(each with 2 x expansion cards for networking). ESXi on all Nodes

* SAN unit (V3700) external to chassis

My mission, should I accept it (well, no choice really, it’s imperative!) …….is to bring all firmware up to date as has not been done since new 4 years ago. Also need to update VMware to version 6.5 + as still on version 6.0, this will be scheduled after firmware upgrades completion on all hardware components.

The steps I plan on taking for firmware updates are as follows:

1. Update expansion cards on all Nodes to recommended latest driver/firmware recipe for VMware/IBM versions (latest releases are for all...

Do we have to eject the tape media before turning off the power?

OS:windows 10,LTFS format,IBM LTO6 drive,Dell external closure,personal backup user)

Hi,

LTO external drive makes a noisy fan sound when powered on.

So I want to turn off the power when not in use.

Do we have to eject the tape media before turning off the power?

Someone say that problems can arise if you do not eject the tape before powering down.

Is it true?

Repeatedly inserting and removing tapes is likely to cause physical wear on the drive and

it takes time to put the tape in and out.

So I just want to keep the tape mounted on the drive 24/7

Is it safe to use(power on and off repeatedly) LTOdevice with the tape mounted on the drive 24/7?
