we are trying to upgrade our x3500 M4 7383 e7g server to expand from the standard 8 hard drives to 16. We have purchased the 8 to 16 drive upgrade kit which includes the expansion bay and the backplane card (with cables). Instructions are virtually none existent. The kit tells you to look at the server manual and that just gives a diagram of where the cables fit.
We have the cabling fitted to their specs and when we boot up we get an error message saying that all of our drives are gone. We originally hadan issue with the power supplies which were insufficient to do the job. We replaced these 550w ones with new 900w units. Unfortunately we still have the same issue.
The drives power up initially during the post checks. Then they immediately switch off again and do not come back on for the raid check.
