Iseries (as/400)

Hi,

For my job I need to learn to do administration of the AS/400.

We have a huge knowledge gap that needs to be filled.

I was wondering what the best approach is to learn.

I was thinking of getting an older AS/400 and install it from scratch.

Afterwards I could use it to learn and experiment.

While also learning from books.

I only have basic prior knowledge running some basic tasks.

Do you know if I need to buy a license for this to work?

Or will it work as long as I have the hardware.

And what are the essential requirements to get this to work?

Lastly, do you have any advice on how to get started?
