We use an IBM Power 720 server AS400 running the VAI ERP system. There are often time that a user will run a report incorrectly (such as forgetting to fill out a value in to to/from range) and it will try to run something way too big, and it will get stuck in the QBATCH, and will hold up all the other queued processes.
I am fairly new to this type of system, but am trying to learn. Is there any way to have some sort of notification is this type of even happens, either internally, or with some sort of external monitor? Some thing like, if a process is taking more than a few minutes, send me an email? The only way I really know currently is I get angry calls from shipping that their documents are no longer printing, etc.
Just the other day, a process someone ran before they left for the day ended up bombing out, which then held...
